URLMinder

Overview

URLMinder is a simple bot that will remember a list of Web links for you. It works just like the "favorites" or "bookmarks" list in a web browser, except that the list is available to you anywhere you have an instant messenger client. So, for example, if you find an interesting Website while surfing the Net in a cybercafe, you can give the link to the bot for safekeeping; it will be waiting for you when you sign on to the IM network from some other location.

Tutorial

The bot is very simple to use. It recognizes a set of simple commands that allow you to manage your URL list. The commands are list, add, remove, title, and purge. You can abbreviate any command by typing just the first letter of the command. You can use the ? command for a summary of all of the available commands:

Use the add command to add a new URL to your list. The command takes one or two arguments: the URL itself, and optionally, a title or comment for the URL. If this title or comment is more than a single word, enclose it in double quotes. Here is an example:

Use the list command to see the URLs that are currently in your list. You can click on any item in the list to open the corresponding URL in your browser:

Use the remove command to remove a URL from your list. The command takes a single argument, which is the number of the URL to remove. For example, to remove the 5th URL:

Once a URL is in your list, you can change its title with the title command. The command takes two arguments: the number of the URL whose title you wish to change, and the title itself. Remember to enclose the title in double quotes. Here is an example:

The final command, purge, allows you to empty your URL list. All of the URLs in your list will be permanently removed, so use this command with caution!
